I alternate creations in the painting area with art objects and illustrations.

I started my journey in the art world early, during school, where all my notebooks last pages were full of my drawings. Then my journey continued, passing through the National University of Arts in Bucharest, which I graduated in 2001.

I took my first steps working in the field of scenography, in several theaters. At the beginning in Bucharest. I then chose to return to Brasov and live here. I made the costumes and sets for several theatre plays, collaborating with important directors such as Alexandru Dabija, to “The Colonel Bird ” play and Alina Hiristea, to “Harap Alb” play. This period of collaborations in the theater area lasted until 2010. You can see my scenography projects here: http://agata.secelean.carbonmade.com.

Also, my interest in designer jewelry was manifested through a series of jewelry collections, which I made until 2013.

During all this time, in parallel, I was more and more preoccupied with painting and art objects creation in mixed media.

A large part of my works are a journey into the world of Romanian mythology, a source of inspiration close to my heart. I am also inspired by nature and daily events with my family, my husband and my son.

I have gained experience during all these years, and in 2012 I had the opportunity to join my colleagues, as a member of the Union of Visual Artists in Romania.

I paint on canvas, sometimes on paper, and in my art I have developed a range of experimental techniques that combine very different materials. Sometimes ceramics, sometimes vinyl plastics, porcelain, or old books are combined with various adhesives, varnishes, colors and epoxy resin.

My works have been present in over thirty group exhibitions (in Romania and in other countries) and five solo exhibitions.

In 2009 and 2011 I participated with my paintings to the Lascăr Vorel Art Biennale in Piatra Neamț.

In 2012 my artworks took flight to Norway and I had a personal exhibition called “Shadows” in Tromsø, where they were greeted with great interest, and some of them found a welcoming home.

A series of intense experiences were occasioned by the trips we made during group exhibitions organized in Cyprus (in Limassol) and Israel (in Rishon LeZion). On these occasions I met the artists there and I had the opportunity to see and appreciate the cultural differences.

In 2019 I was among the selected participants at the Blue Biennale in Brașov and the Miniature Salon at the Pavel Șușară Museum in Bucharest.

My works have found their place in the homes of many art lovers in the country and abroad, in Germany, England, Norway, France and Italy.

I believe in the power of art to influence people’s lives and change things for the better. And I try to do that through my work. I have been told several times that my artworks evoke stories.

One idea that expresses my belief is that art can plant seeds in people’s minds, where new thoughts and ideas sprout.
